Warsaw Plast Expo Conference

Plastics are a material that is fundamentally innovative. From the chemical side, it is more than 100 different types of polymers or polymeric combinations, which, depending on what we need them for, can be used in virtually every area of life.

The ability to design polymeric materials with diverse properties also makes them play an important role in the development of medicine or the transportation industry (aviation, automotive, space).

However, the rapid development of this area of the economy has caused the world to face entirely new challenges. The most serious problem is the generation of huge amounts of plastic waste. In addition, they are produced from oil, a non-renewable resource that may run out in the near future.

The answer to this is the idea of a closed-loop economy, in which the end of a product’s life is also the beginning of the life of a new product or service. All materials are consumed, their added value is maximized. Waste is completely eliminated. The need to extract new raw materials is also eliminated.

If these risks are taken into account, it becomes clear that the essential innovation in the plastics industry is the search for ecological solutions for polymeric materials.
