The success of the second edition of Warsaw Plast Expo at Ptak Warsaw Expo
The second edition of the international plastics industry fair Warsaw Plast Expo was a success! On February 8-10, Ptak Warsaw Expo turned into the largest platform dedicated to this business sector.
Warsaw Plast Expo is a widely developed event dedicated to plastics processing, which combines all industry segments: machinery, equipment, raw materials, semi-finished products, technical parts, research services and science. It is a complete platform that allows you to get acquainted with the most important changes in the industry, trends and innovations that are conquering the markets.
It was no different during the second edition of the event, which took place on February 8-10 at Ptak Warsaw Expo. A modern approach to the subject allowed not only to establish thousands of new business cooperation, but also to consciously approach the challenges faced by this industry sector.
Ecology and changes are an important part of the Warsaw Plast Expo
One of the most important issues facing the plastics industry today is ecology. Along with the increase in the production of the above-mentioned plastics, the amount of waste from them has also increased over the decades. According to data from the European Parliament, about 25 percent of all waste generated from these materials is landfilled. Half of it is exported outside the European Union, which largely only postpones the problem, not solves it. Analyzes indicate that worldwide in 2019, the production and burning of plastic pumped more than 850 million tons of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. By 2050, these emissions are expected to increase to 2.8 billion tonnes. In addition, it is estimated that the economic loss of plastic packaging after a short period of first use is 95 percent.
During the Warsaw Plast Expo, there was no shortage of talks about the future of this sector and the changes that affect it. During the Plastics Processing Conference, the speakers gave groundbreaking lectures. The PlasticsEurope Polska Foundation presented a speech titled “Plastics in a closed circuit – production, use, waste management”. Grupa Azoty also joined the discussion, offering two lectures: “Grupa Azoty S.A. biodegradable and compostable polymers as an answer to environmental challenges” and “Solutions in the field of biomaterials”. ML Polyolefins focused on recyclates in the context of the upcoming changes, and Argus Maszyny on new informations about recycling. At the end of the first day of the meeting, a debate “Can bioplastics and recyclates become the future of the plastics industry” was held.
The second day of the conference also featured this topic. Marta Krawczyk from REKOPOL gave a lecture titled “Eco-design for recycling and selective waste collection – necessary tools to achieve recycling goals for entrepreneurs and municipalities”, and Andrzej Kornacki from FUTAMURA wondered how to make packaging made of flexible plastics recyclable.
However, these were only some of the issues raised during the Plastics Processing Conference. In addition, the profits from digital printing in the industry, sensory packaging, and testing the humidity of plastics were discussed.
